About Me

Kelly, Coty, & Woody

Ye Ha!

Wow, you really want to know about me? I think you need to get out more often. Since you are still reading, i'll tell you this much - I'm a thirty-something mother of two, web developer by day, and wouldn't you like to know by night. We live, work, and play happily in Maryland. See links for some insight into who I really am.

As you can see from my pic, my dogs are like my children. Woody (11 year old chocolate lab) and Coty (7 year old german shepherd dog) are working therapy dogs with Fidos For Freedom (the pic is from the annual Halloween party) but in their free time they enjoy long walks, being petted, and basically insisting on being in the same square foot of me at all times.

Some of my favorite things are hanging out with friends & family, cooking, gardening, knitting, reading, and being creative. Having no artist talent doesn't stop me. Love to travel and am planning a trip to Australia at the moment. Going to new and interesting places near where I live has been keeping me occupied lately - amazing what kinds of interesting things you can find once you open your eyes!

History of Luveybears

Well, this website originally started out as a place to display and sell my handmade mohair teddy bears. The idea for the name "luveybears" came from my mom. See, when I was a kid, I had a bean bag pig I called luvey. He was tragically misplaced during a move and my family has been hunting for a replace for about 25 years. Since I also "luv" teddy bears, mom stuck the two together and voila! Luveybears was born.

Not having enough time to dedicate to the business of making teddy bears, I shifted my focus to charity. Making and donating teddy bears (and other animals) to charitable organizations for auctions, etc. Some funds i've supported over the years are for 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, and Fidos For Freedom, Inc.

Now that everyone knows that this is my domain and my email address (this address has been the same longer than any other phone number or street address i've ever had!), I decided to keep it. Now i'm using the website to work on ideas for web development and basically stop the endless harassment of people asking me what Luveybears is and how they can order a bear (you can't, get over it).
